POWER CONTROL SCHEMES FOR FADING ADDITIVE WHITE GAUSSIAN NOISE CHANNELSy

چکیده
In this paper we propose two novel approaches to the problem of power control for fading, additive white Gaus-sian noise channels, with side information. The objective in the rst scheme is to maximize the capacity of the channel subject to a constraint on the minimum capacity at any given state of the channel. In this scheme we assume perfect knowledge of the channel state. In the second part of this paper, we approach the problem of power control for a fading channel with imperfect knowledge of the channel state. An application of this method to minimizing the bit error rate (BER) for a binary diierential phase-shift key-ing (BDPSK) modulation system is derived. The proposed power control policies are compared with other schemes found in the literature in terms of the channel capacity, the outage probabilities, the 1%-capacity, and the achieved BER.

متن کاملSimple Power–Controlled Modulation Schemes for Fixed–Rate Transmission over Fading Channels
This paper examines power–controlled modulation schemes for fixed–rate transmission over fading radio channels. We are primarily interested in transmitter diversity schemes for multiple–block (slot) transmission on narrowband time–division duplex systems such as DECT and PHS. We consider transmitter power control over one and two independently–faded blocks using variable (coded) modulation sche...
متن کاملAverage Symbol Error Rate of Maximal Ratio Combining Scheme in the Presence of Multiple Cochannel Interferers
The performance of digital cellular radio systems with maximal ratio combining (MRC) diversity is analyzed in a flat-fading channel with cochannel interference and additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). It is assumed that the desired signal may experience Rice fading while the Rayleigh-faded interferers may have similar or dissimilar average mean powers. Closed-form expressions are derived for t...
متن کاملPolynomial Prediction of Noise Shaping Rayleigh Fading
In this paper, polynomial prediction of Rayleigh fading power signal produced by noise shaping is investigated. We focus on the processing of the measured input signal for power control purposes of a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) mobile station receiver. Predictive filtering based on a polynomial signal model is proposed, and a class of FIR-type polynomial predictors is investigated with...
متن کاملApproximate Maximum Likelihood Ratios for Sequential Code Acquisition
In this paper, we consider the noncoherent code acquisition problem using sequential schemes. Since code acquisition schemes using the maximum likelihood estimate usually require a high level of computational complexity, simplified schemes are proposed and analyzed based on approximations. The performance of the simplified and original code acquisition schemes are compared in additive white Gau...
